The Life Insurance of Malaysia (LIAM) has re-elected Mr Toi See Jong, Tokio Marine Life Insurance Malaysia Bhd CEO as its President and elected Mr Ramzi Toubassy, AmMetLife Insurance Berhad CEO as its new Vice President for 2017/18.
At the 43rd Annual General Meeting on 21 March where the elections took place, LIAM also welcomed on board two new Management Committee members for the same term—Mr Rangam Bir, CEO of Gibraltar BSN Life Berhad and Mr Phil Smith, CEO of Zurich Insurance Malaysia Berhad.
LIAM President Mr Toi is also the Chairman of Malaysian Life Re. He is a qualified actuary from the United Kingdom with 27 years of experience in the insurance industry. Over the years, he spearheaded and managed financial organisations in Malaysia, China, Singapore and Hong Kong, in senior positions such as Appointed Actuary and CEO.
New LIAM Vice-President Mr Toubassy has been CEO of AmMetLife Insurance Berhad since 19 September 2014. Before that he was MetLife’s Head of Face-to-Face Distribution for the Europe, Middle East and Africa region from 2012. Prior to joining MetLife, he was with AIA, where he held several key management roles based in Hong Kong, Malaysia, Korea and Vietnam.
For the term 2017/18, LIAM is also supported by five other members namely Ms Anusha Thavarajah, CEO of AIA Bhd., Mr Loke Kah Meng, CEO of AXA Affin Life Insurance Berhad, Encik Zaharudin Daud, CEO of Etiqa Insurance Berhad, YBhg. Dato Koh Yaw Hui, CEO of Great Eastern Life Assurance (M) Berhad and Mr Gan Leong Hin, CEO of Prudential Assurance Malaysia Berhad.
