MDRT 2018: Five things to do every day to lead a significant life - John Maxwell

| 25 Jun 2018

"If you want your life to be fulfilling, if you want your life to be significant, make sure you live an intentional life," said John Maxwell, New York Times bestselling author, coach and speaker, at the 2018 MDRT Annual Meeting opening ceremony.

Speaking on “Intentional Living”, he said:

The road to success is uphill. Everything in life that is worthwhile is uphill. There is nothing significant in life that comes easy.

There is no accidental accomplishment. If someone got to the top of the success mountain, they know how they got there.  And the only way to live this life of significance is by being intentional.

People have high hopes but bad habits, and bad habits keep people from living an intentional life.

Here are five things to do every day to be intentional and lead a life of significance:

1. Value people

It begins with your attitude towards others. “If I value you, I will begin to add value to you. If I don’t value you, I won’t add value to you.”

Most people sell themselves short. If you believe in them, if you unconditionally love them, if you value them, you would be like a magnet because that’s what people desire.

2. Think of ways to add value to people

Every day, before going about your day, ask yourself, “Who am I meeting and how can I add value to them?”

If you think about that every day, it is not only going to change your life, it is going to change the lives of people around you.

3. Look for ways to help people

Why do you look for ways to help other people? Why do you think of ways to help other people? It’s because you value people.

4. Do things that add value to people

Make sure you do not only think these things, do it. Good intentions do not equate to good actions.

5. Encourage others to add value to people

If you do that, we start multiplying and that makes all the difference in the world.
