Singapore: Extension of coverage for COVID-19 vaccination complications

| 18 Jan 2022

The Life Insurance Association, Singapore (LIA Singapore) has announced that coverage of in-patient hospitalisation under Integrated Shield Plans (IP) for COVID-19 vaccination complications will be extended until 31 December 2022.

The initial 12-month special support given by all seven IP insurers ended on 31 December 2021.

On the same basis as before, the extended cover will apply to all IP policyholders who receive COVID-19 vaccines under the National Vaccination Programme as well as those approved by the World Health Organisation under its Emergency Use Listing procedure and administered in Singapore under the Special Access Route. This initiative reflects the life insurance industry’s continued support of the Government’s ongoing vaccination and booster immunisation programme.

LIA Singapore president Khor Hock Seng said, “Life insurers remain committed to playing their part in the collective effort to bring COVID-19 under control by supporting the National Vaccination Programme. IP policyholders taking their vaccination and booster shots can rest assured that any related medical complications resulting in hospitalisation will be covered by their respective insurers.”
