Tokio Marine Life Insurance Singapore announces new C-suite level appointments to drive strategic growth

Tokio Marine Life Insurance Singapore Ltd (TMLS) welcomes three C-level executives to the senior management team: newly appointed Chief Financial Officer, Edwin Peh, Chief Operations Officer, Esmond Chan and Chief Investment Officer, Goh Kay Yiong.

Christopher Teo, Chief Executive Officer, TMLS, shares, “It is my great pleasure to announce these new appointments. Edwin will lead finance, investment, legal & company secretariat functions, while Esmond will oversee the entire insurance operations including underwriting & claims, policy servicing & customer servicing, distribution operations and information technology whilst Kay Yiong will oversee the management of the company’s investment assets and portfolio.

This announcement is all part of TMLS’s continuing endeavour to strengthen its overall leadership and management bench strength to attain the company’s ambition for a more sustainable growth intent. I truly believe that Edwin, Esmond and Kay Yiong will be valuable assets to the company.

Edwin Peh has nearly 25 years’ proven track record spanning the life insurance industry covering areas in finance, actuarial, investment management, product development, distribution financial management and strategic planning. He joins TMLS from HSBC Life, China, where he held the position of Chief Customer Officer & Deputy General Manager.  Prior to this, he was the Chief Financial Officer with Prudential Singapore, and before that he was the Chief Financial Officer of Manulife-Sinochem in China. He also has vast overseas experience in Canada, Malaysia and Hong Kong in various corporate and business unit roles. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia (FIAA), a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Charterholder, and holds an MBA from Washington University in St. Louis, USA.


In his 27-year tenure with NTUC Income, Esmond Chan has held various leadership positions in compliance, life and health insurance operations, distribution middle office, corporate planning and information technology and has spearheaded numerous successful strategic initiatives that ensure the company’s adherence to regulatory compliance. He graduated with a Bachelor of Business (2nd Upper Class Honours) in Banking, Finance and Insurance from Nanyang Technological University Singapore.


Goh Kay Yiong has more than 17 years of experience in the financial services industry with roles in equity analysis, fund management and investment products management/advisory. He has in-depth experience across different asset classes and market segments, and has previously worked in Tokio Marine Asset Management International, Citibank and Bank of Singapore. He started his career as an auditor in Ernst & Young. He graduated from Nanyang Technological University Singapore with a Bachelor of Accountancy, and has an MBA from Manchester Business School and a Graduate Diploma in Economics from University of London (LSE). He is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Charterholder.
