SBI Life Insurance of India emerged the company with the best use of Social Media outside the US while Manulife Hong Kong's ManulifeMOVE, tied with Prudential Financial's Run401k Race, for the 'Best Integrated Social Campaign" for retirement programmes under LOMA/LIMRA's Social Media Silver Bowl Award for 2016.
The Guardian Life Insurance Company of America won the award for the ‘Best Use of Social Media by an Agent/Advisor ‘, while Thrivent Financial won the ‘Best Social Advisor Program’ category. Prudential Financial also received the award for ‘The best use of Social Media for Social Good’ category. The ‘Best Use of Social Media for Recruiting’ award was bagged by First Command Financial Services.
The LIMRA and LOMA Awards, now in the 4th annual run was given out at the Social Business Conference for Financial Services to recognize outstanding, creative and effective social media campaigns or programs by financial services companies across the globe. There were 57 entries from 36 companies and the panel of Judges included 41 social media experts and financial services executives.
According to LIMRA research, only 20% of financial services companies were using multiple social media platforms in 2010. However, nowadays the majority of companies worldwide use LinkedIn as a recruitment tool and Facebook and YouTube to raise brand awareness and engage with customers. The use of Twitter for social listening and connecting with industry professionals has also increased in the recent years.
