Prudential announces senior management changes, banking veteran named Singapore CEO

Prudential Singapore has appointed former OCBC head of consumer finance as CEO. The current Prudential Singapore CEO is taking on a regional role.

Banking veteran Mr Dennis Tan has been named Prudential Singapore’s CEO. Dennis headed OCBC’s consumer financial services as well as Branch and Group Premier Banking in Singapore prior to this appointment. He was a member of OCBC's 24-person group management committee.

Before joining OCBC in 2009, he led Sales & Distribution, Wealth Management and Retail Banking teams at Citibank.

Dennis has some 26 years of international experience in financial services, product development, and sales and distribution, with expertise in developing new customer propositions and leading digital transformations.

Dennis holds a Bachelor of Science in Business (Honours with Distinction) from Indiana University, the United States of America (USA) and is also a Certified Financial Planner. He was also awarded IBF Distinguished Fellow (2019) Consumer Banking.

 

Mr Wilf Blackburn will remain Singapore CEO until regulatory approval for Dennis’s appointment is received. Wilf has been appointed Regional CEO – Insurance Growth Markets, based in Hong Kong.

Wilf, who has some 30 years of life insurance experience, joined Prudential Corporation Asia in Hong Kong in 2012. He is an insurance industry veteran who has lived in seven Asian countries over the past 18 years.

Prior to joining Prudential, he was with Allianz for over 11 years, where he was CEO of their life insurance joint ventures in China, Thailand and the Philippines, and Regional GM, Life & Health Insurance for Asia.

Wilf qualified as a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries (FIA) in 1995. He has an MBA from the University of Bath and a BSc (Mathematics – 1st Class Hons.) from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne (his home town).

In the last two years alone, Prudential Singapore has entered the high net worth segment with OPUS, supported small and medium businesses with PRUWorks, and brought attention to the longevity challenge.
