IKEA launches new home contents insurance solution, underwritten by Etiqa

| 18 Dec 2020

IKEA has rolled out a home contents insurance offering called HEMSÄKER, underwritten by Etiqa General Insurance Berhad.

HEMSÄKER is a name derived from the Swedish words for “home” and “security”. It is a comprehensive, home contents and personal accident insurance plan that covers the costs incurred due to damage to home furniture, renovation, as well as personal legal liability.

In an effort to make home insurance simpler and more accessible, the insurance premium is affordably priced from RM208 a year including service tax for the Basic plan which provides coverage of up to RM50,000, while the Plus plan is priced at RM308 a year and offers coverage of up to RM100,000.

Gerard Jansen, Country Retail Director (Malaysia) of IKEA Southeast Asia, said, “Now, it is more important than ever to make our homes feel like a safe place to be in, it is not just the things inside our homes that are important but, the people too. By providing an easily accessible home contents insurance, we are helping Malaysians protect the things that make their homes count.”

“Overall, this insurance solution also reinforces our commitment in creating a better everyday life at home by focusing on the well-being and security at home for the many people,” he added.

While there are already existing solutions available in the market, IKEA saw the need to create an easy to understand and affordable offer to everyone. Using straightforward language, the coverage and benefits of the offering are clear and transparent.

Fukhairudin Mohd Yusof, CEO of Etiqa General Insurance Berhad said, “Etiqa General Insurance is pleased to partner IKEA in providing comprehensive and affordable home contents insurance for customers. Our organisational culture of making things Fast & Easy, whether it is to purchase, submit claims or receive payouts, makes this an ideal home contents insurance solution as customers are able to sign up, and easily manage their insurance online.

“This feature is key as we are still navigating a global pandemic, with many people turning to digital solutions for their insurance needs,” he added.
